00005 = batch number
Radios made
after 2000 had serial numbers starting letters:
T = Taiwan
M = Malaysia
S = Shanghai China
D = Another Chinese city I can't spell
Radios made
prior to 2000 did not have a letter designation and signified the year with
the first digit:
9 = 1999
8 = 1998
7 = 1997
6 = 1996
5 = 1995
4 = 1994
3 = 1993
2 = 1992
1 = 1991
0 = 1990
