Remove TR32
Frequency Mod

1. Remove the unit from its cabinet and locate the 11.1125MHz crystal toward the front and remove it from the socket.

2. Obtain a 2P3T rotary switch and solder the removed crystal as well as two new crystals
to the rotary switch as shown in Figure A.

3. Drill a hole in the outside cabinet and mount the switch as close to the crystal socket as possible to the crystal socket.

4. Solder two wires from the switch and the other ends to the crystal socket keeping them
short as possible.

Slider

1. Locate diode D36 and remove it from the board.

2. Cut the two end wires from the clarifier control at the circuit board side.

3. Solder the right terminal wire to ground, and the left terminal to the (+) side of C66 behind the PLL chip. (Figure C) Also remove R187.

4. Locate the varactor diode next to the crystal socket and unsolder the stripped side.

5. Solder a 5.6uH RF choke in series with the varactor diode as shown in Figure D.

6. Turn the unit on with the clarifier control in its fully clockwise position and adjust the trimmer capacitor (Figure D) for 1KHz above center frequency. The unit will now transmit above and below the normal channels and slide down 9KHz below center frequency.
