Additional Hints

Unit will not turn on:

Possible Cause and / or Solution

Check power switch.

Defective power switch: Replace. Defect in power supply circuit: Replace the defective part(s).

Check fuse.

Blown fuse: Replace.

 

Dose not transmit:

Action

Possible Cause and / or Solution

Check connection and switch.

Defective or bad contact in antenna connector: Repair or replace. Defective PA-MON-CB switch: Replace.

Check PLL IC.

Check if voltage at pin 4 of IC 1 is more than 5V. If not, IC 1 is defective: Replace.

Check transmitter circuit.

Check if voltages at emitter of Q23 is less than 1V and collector of Q22 is more than 7 V. If not, check and/or replace defective parts in transmitter circuit. Check if voltage at emitter of Q23 is less than 1V. If not, check and/or replace defective parts in microphone circuit.

 

Does not receive: (Squelch control is set fully counterclockwise.)

Possible Cause and / or Solution

Check speaker jack.

Defective external speaker jack: Replace.

Check microphone jack.

Bad contact in the microphone jack: Replace. Bad PTT switch in the microphone: Replace. Defective PA-MON-CB switch: Replace.

Check if S-meter deflects.

If not, check if the frequencies shown on frequency counter (at TP 3) are as per frequency chart, when the channel selector switch is changed from CH1 though CH 40. If the frequencies are correct, check and replace D 3 if defective and/ or readjust VR 1.

Check audio power IC.

Check if voltage at pin 1 of IC2 is 7V ± 0.3 V. If not, IC2 is defective: Replace.

Check if squelch is on all the time.

Check if voltage at the collector of Q13 is more than 0.5 V. If not, Q28 is defective: Replace.
